Winter is a time for families gathering and celebrating the joys of the past year—and Garvan Gardens has a new daytime art installation that will be perfect for continuing these traditions. Wonderland is an art installation in the Gardens focusing on 9 main areas with different themes in each space reflecting the spirit of winter and the holidays. Guests can enjoy new worlds as they wander the Garden grounds. “Due to the lingering effects of Covid 19, we want to ensure the safe and healthy of all of our guests, and are offering a new winter garden experience.” Says Executive Director, Bob Bledsoe. “The virus continues to be active, and because of our inability to receive necessary infrastructure items to guarantee the safety of guests and staff, the decision was made to do a day show only this year. We can ensure you that this show is going to be unlike anything you have ever seen!” he continues.
While we don’t want to give all of the magic away, we can tell you that many of the spaces will feature larger-than-life lanterns capturing the wonder of nature and various sea creatures with holiday flair, an all-new iridescent jewel tree, and many guests’ past favorites—such as the sea dragon, mushrooms, and yeti with a new overlay twist. The pavilion snow globe will also return, as well as, the wildly-popular James the Train in the roundabout area. The Gardens will offer new feature areas perfect for capturing those “insta-worthy” photos to share socially. The winter wonder will continue weekly with concerts, tea parties, a daily scavenger hunt, a new exclusive party called “Reindeer Games”, and various winter and holiday themed workshops throughout the season. Please check the Garvan Gardens website regularly for the full calendar offerings at www.garvangardens.org.
Wonderland begins Saturday November 20th and will run until December 31, 2021. The Garden is open daily from 10am to 6pm except for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. All tickets may be purchased on site: adults $15, children ages 4-12 $5, children 3 and under free, dogs $5. Online tickets may be available at a later date. As always, Garden admission is free to members with a current membership card and photo ID. Come experience the WONDER of the Gardens in winter!
