Accounting Clerk

Accounting Clerk, full time, needed for Visit Hot Springs financial services division. Starting pay is $13/hour, but negotiable based on experience.  Clerk will assist the Chief Financial Officer with all areas of accounting for all divisions within Visit Hot Springs, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, along with assisting in the collection of 3% Hospitality Tax from all Hotels & Restaurants in the city. 

Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) status: Hourly

Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receives cash receipts from Main Office and makes daily deposits for all divisions located within the Convention Center facility.
  • Verifies, prepares and processes account receivables for all divisions, as directed by CFO.
  • Assists in collecting the Hospitality Tax, processes monthly reports, and maintains files.
  • Prepares accounts payable packages and verifies proper documentation and authorization.
  • Processes   accounts   payable   packages,   from   computer   and/or   manual   input   through authorization, payment, mailing and filing.
  • Maintains the accounting report files and special account files as needed.
  • Performs clerical and accounting duties as directed by the CFO. 

Minimum Experience, Skills or Education Required:

  • Two-year college degree with emphasis in accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years accounting, collections, accounts payable and clerical experience.
  • Must be able to type a minimum of 50 wpm, use a calculator, a personal computer, printer and copier. Must have working knowledge of Word, Excel, QuickBooks and Access programs.
  • Must have mathematical development sufficient to be able to compute discount, interest, profit and loss, ratio and proportion and percentages.
  • Must have developed language skills to the point to be able to read and understand instructions, safety rules, etc. Must be able to write reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech.
  • Must be able to follow instructions and provide assistance to other employees and the general public.
  • Must be able to compute and record numbers correctly.
  • Must be able to perform work that is routine and detailed.
  • Must communicate well with public, orally and in writing. 

Working Conditions: The accounting clerk works in a climate controlled office environment. 

Physical Demands: Lifting 20 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as files, ledgers and small tools. Walking and standing are required only occasionally. Reaching. Handling. Data entry. Seeing. Sitting.
