They’ll be totin’ that car and liftin’ that rock in Hot Springs next summer.
The America’s Strongest Man United States National Championships — the largest professional event of the year with more than 20 competitors — will be held at Summit Arena August 6 and 7, 2010.
It will be the final qualifier for the America’s Strongest Man competition that will be held in September 2010.
In the competition, huge, hulking strong men compete in events that see them
attempt to press, lift and carry thousands of pounds in various forms. Feats may include the Giant Timber Frame Carry, the Car Deadlift and the Atlas Stone competition, among others.
In the Giant Timber Frame Carry, the athletes will each attempt to lift a 750-pound timber frame and carry it for 100 feet. Furthest or fastest time to complete the course wins. The athlete will have a 60-second time limit to complete the course.
In the Car Dead Lift, the athletes will attempt to lift the rear end of a car with their bare hands for as many repetitions as possible in a 60-second time limit.
During the Atlas Stones portion, the athletes will attempt to lift, carry and load six stones weighing between 285 pounds and 420 pounds onto platforms. Fastest time to load all six stones (or the most stones) wins. The athlete will have a 60-second time limit to complete all six stones.
This event is free to the public.
