Plan a One-Day Getaway to Hot Springs, Arkansas 

Summertime is full of endless vacation possibilities, but sometimes it can be hard to fit in all the trips you want to take.

Luckily, Hot Springs is an excellent destination for when you only have a short amount of time to spare.

8:30 a.m. - Arrive early in beautiful Hot Springs and grab a cup of coffee and a bagel at Kollective Coffee + Tea. You’ll need the fuel for all the fun you’ll be fitting into your day.

10 a.m. - Head over to Mid-America Science Museum for learning and exploration. The Marvelous Motion Gallery, Light Bridge, shows offered in the Tesla and Digital Dome Theaters, and a stroll high in the treetops on the Bob Wheeler Science Skywalk are all must do exhibits at this local favorite.

     $8 - seniors, 65+

12:15 p.m. - Grab lunch at a longtime favorite, Ambrosia Bakery. In its new location at 307 Broadway St., Ambrosia offers specialty sandwiches, salads and sweet treats in the perfect setting for friendly conversation. When you finish, take a quick stroll down the Hot Springs Greenway and tour the sculpture garden.

1:30p.m. - For the baseball fans, Hot Springs is no exception. Plaques marking the way of the Hot Springs Baseball Trail can be found at various points throughout the city. Long seen as the place to go for spring training, Hot Springs welcomed greats such as Babe Ruth, Tris Speaker and Al Simmons. This self-guided attraction has no price-stamp on it, but is certainly a treasure.

Or if you would rather hit the scenic trails, Lake Catherine and Lake Ouachita state parks offer waterfalls, swimming, boating, and even mountain biking.

5:30 p.m. - Enjoy the eclectic atmosphere of a local favorite, Colorado Grill. With all of your Southwest favorites, there’s something on the menu for everyone. Happy Hour is from 5-7 p.m., so get there fast.

7 p.m. - Take a sunset cruise on Lake Hamilton on the Belle of Hot Springs. This riverboat tour is a must for winding down a full day.

8:30 p.m. - Stop in for a sweet treat at Dolce Gelato in Cornerstone. With more than 24 flavors of gelato, and featured sorbettos, this is the perfect stop before heading back to your room for the evening. Hot Springs has a wide selection of beautiful hotels, B&Bs and condos with stunning city and lake views.

If you only have one day to spend in Hot Springs, never fear. There are endless opportunities for fun around every corner, for all interests and ages.
